Listen. Learn. Change.
Updated: Sep 12
In the United State and around the world, in our grief, our anger, our passion, our thoughts and emotions, the Holy Spirit is calling us to listen, to learn, to change.
Are we willing to truly hear and listen to the hearts and experiences of people who have experienced things that we never have?
Are we willing to believe what we hear from brothers and sisters who entrust us with their stories?
Are we willing to be changed?
In our change there is repentance.
I believe God in His mercy is giving us this opportunity.
“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." ~ Micah 6:8
Today I want to share a resource. Be the Bridge is a Christian non-profit with the mission to “empower people and culture toward racial healing, equity and reconciliation.”
On their Facebook Group, Be the Bridge invites us all to listen and to learn. They have created learning units into which they invite us. They require a three-month spiritual discipline of silence – during this time, we listen and learn with humility, but we do not post our own thoughts yet on their page. At the end of the three months, we are welcomed to begin sharing our thoughts on their page.
I am blown away by the beauty and power of this opportunity. I hope that many of you will join me in entering into your own three-month season of listening and learning. I hope that listening and learning will become a way of life for us. And as we listen and learn, may the Holy Spirit change us and may we never be the same.
